Concessionary Bus Pass

The English National Concessionary Travel Scheme (ENCTS) pass is a national pass. Each travel concession authority, in this case Somerset Council, holds responsibility for administrating the scheme in their own area. Therefore this application is only valid for Somerset residents who are of pensionable age or eligible on the grounds of disability.

The bus pass is free, but there may be an administration charge for replacing a valid pass if it has been lost, stolen or damaged.

Register, apply and Renew a concessionary bus pass using the link below:

Travel By Train

With regular high speed connections to London, and direct links within the South West, rail travel plays an important role in keeping Somerset connected. Stations across the county provide access to some of the region's top attractions.

Use our Journey Planner to start planning your next rail journey.

Rail Fares

Rail fares vary considerably, even for the same journey. Buying tickets at the station just before you travel is usually the most expensive option. You can often cut the cost of your fares significantly by comparing fares online using services such as nationalrail.co.ukthetrainline.com or raileasy.co.uk.

You could also cut the cost of travel by looking at railcard options, or by:

  • Buying tickets in advance
  • Travelling off peak
  • Checking both single and return fares
  • Looking for special tickets and special offers
  • Looking for discounts for business travel and bulk bookings
