Welcome to Slinky
Slinky is a demand responsive transport service, a flexible bus service operating across 6 regional areas in Somerset and funded by the Council.
To use the Slinky, you will need to register and become a member. You must over the age of 16 to register. Parents, guardians, or carers once registered can book for their dependents. Passengers under the age of 5 need to be accompanied by an adult.
It can be used for many things. It can take you to health appointments or exercise classes, help you visit family and friends, go shopping, or attend social events. You can also use it to connect to other public transport options.
Dependent on where you live, there are two types of Slinky Service. Our non-digital Slinky services operate in Mendip, South Somerset, and West Somerset while our digital Slinky services operate in Somerton, Sedgemoor, Taunton and Wellington.

For information on how to register to become a member and how to book travel select your geographical area as the non-digital and digital Slinky services operate slightly differently.
1. Digital Slinky Services
We are trialling a new way to book Slinky bus journeys online. The Slinky Digital initiative is funded by the Government’s Bus Service Improvement grant and is part of Somerset’s Bus Service Improvement Plan (BSIP).
If you wish to use one of our digital services, you need to register. Once registered you will be able to request a journey using the Padam App or web site, or alternatively contact the booking office at least 1 hour in advance of the time you wish to travel.
Bookings can be made up to 2 weeks in advance.
Should you be unable to make your way to one of the designated pick up points due to mobility issues, we can arrange to pick you up from home. Please discuss with the relevant booking office.
Note: Taunton and Wellington digitalisation will result in the Dial-a-Ride service merging with the Slinky service, giving additional capacity to the Taunton and Wellington Slinky services. For group travel, contact their booking office.
2. Non-digital Slinky Services
If you wish to use one of our non-digital services, you need to register. Once registered you will be able to request a journey by contacting the booking office at least 24 hours in advance of the time you wish to travel. Bookings can be made up to 2 weeks in advance.
